Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson - born Jacqueline Luesby to Chris Watson and Jacqueline Luesby, two British lawyers, was born on August 8, 1989, in Paris. When she was just five years old, she moved to Oxfordshire and attended the Dragon School. Emma always had the desire to become a professional actor from the age of aged six. She attended Stagecoach Theatre Arts in Oxford which is an acting academy with part-time courses. When she was 10 years old, Emma took part in numerous Stagecoach plays and productions. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2000), the movie adaptation from J.K. Rowlings bestselling novel was cast for first time in 1999. Emma was found by casting agents via Emma's Oxford theatre teacher. David Heyman announced to Emma that after eight consecutive auditions Emma and Rupert Grint were chosen as Hermione and Harry Potter. Emma's first appearance on the big screen was Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone which was released in 2001. The film set records for beginning-day and weekend-opening sales and was the highest-grossing film of 2001. The film has been praised by critics for its film as well as the performances by the three young actors. The Daily Telegraph, a widely read British paper, praised her for her performance. Emma's performance received nominations and later won awards for the film.
